The long-delayed mobile game BTS World – which will allow players to guide members of the world-conquering K-pop boy band to success – will finally be released on June 26, South Korean game developer Netmarble has announced.
News of the release date had been eagerly awaited by BTS fans since the mobile game was announced early last year.
Netmarble has previously said the game will incorporate more than 100 video clips and 10,000 photos of BTS members.
In the game, players act as the managers of BTS and must collect various cards to unlock content and “help nurture BTS on their quest to become great artists”.
Analysts have said the boy band’s unprecedented success in the US and internationally is expected to result in BTS World being one of the biggest games of the year and providing a boost to Netmarble, South Korea’s second-biggest gaming company, which has reported several years of falling sales and profits.
