Hong Kong has long been the Halloween capital of Asia, and the city is now preparing for one of the biggest – and messiest – nights of the year.
Most venues that have regularly hosted Halloween events in the past are going ahead with parties despite Hong Kong’s 20 straight weekends of anti-government protests.
The newly introduced anti-mask law is also not expected to put much of a dampener on this year’s festivities.
Here are our 10 picks from the 2019 Halloween party line-up.

Ophelia Halloween Party 2019: Animaux Obscura
Known for throwing some of Hong Kong’s most outrageous parties, the opulent Ophelia offers three nights of Halloween action. There will be interactive vaudevillian entertainment, intriguing cocktails and variety performances with banging tunes.
Dress code: Animal kingdom couture

What do these 5 Halloween superstitions mean in Asia?
Potato Head presents Dark Disco
As usual, Potato Head is offering a party with a difference, with a set list comprising the darker side of ’80s new wave, Italian horror film soundtracks and tropical rhythms. Catch special guest African Star Trekker from Portugal and resident DJ Johnny Hiller serving up eerie tunes, and enjoy two hours of free-flow drinks from 9pm.

Drag Me To Yelloween
For the third edition of its “Drag Me To …” series, W Hong Kong has partnered with champagne house Veuve Clicquot to pay homage to author Stephen King’s horror classic The Shining. Enjoy the bubbles and watch fabulous drag queens bring characters from the film to life, as DJs spin late into the night.

Dead Not Alive Awakendead Halloween 2019
For many years the hottest Halloween ticket in town, Dead Not Alive is marking its 12th anniversary by taking things up a notch. Taiwan’s DJ RayRay headlines the night, alongside Copan Kasten, DragonBall and Mistrezz C. And if you’re not into dance music, it’s still worth going to catch the Nirvana tribute band.

Rewind presents Halloween 2019
Famed daytime pop-up party organiser Rewind takes over Portico for a massive Halloween bash. The Rewind DJs will be spinning their usual blend of quality house and techno.

The Halloween Edition at Behind Bars
The old prison cells at the Tai Kwun complex offer the perfect setting for one of the biggest Halloween parties this year. Come as your favourite character from Breaking Bad, Orange is the New Black or Prison Break and show off your prison garb. DJ Fire Aux will be dropping disco and house, and there’s two hours of free-flow drinks from 9pm.

Doomsday: A Night Not To Be Remembered
If the end of the world is nigh, go out in style by heading 25 floors up California Tower in Lan Kwai Fong for the highest Halloween party on Hong Kong Island. Cocktail bar Cé La Vi is preparing for a special night, combining its multiple floors into one spooktacular setting, and DJ Fudge and DJ Funky will keep the party going until 2am.

A Nightmare on Duddell Street

Haunted Tiki Island at Honi Honi
Being held on Halloween night itself, Honi Honi Tiki Cocktail Lounge’s bash offers free-flow bubbles, bloody mojitos, sweet treats and other cocktails. The city’s favourite tiki bar offers the ideal setting to indulge in some Halloween madness, and the resident DJs will be dropping some suitably tropical island beats.

WAS97:SUICIDES-LEADER:NEW YORK,27MAR97 - The leader of the Heaven's Gate cult who led 39 people in a mass suicide in Southern California was a man named Marshall Applewhite, CBS News reported March 27.
