Rising stars of K-pop: AleXa’s dream collaboration is with Taemin, she has a secret rock-collecting hobby, and she can’t stop playing Among Us
- K-pop star AleXa says the year since her debut has been ‘a dream come true’ and that she often forgets she’s an idol as it ‘still hasn’t hit me yet’
- One of the first K-pop groups she came across was Shinee, and she says Taemin is a big influence on her career – getting to work with him ‘would be incredible’

It’s been a year since 23-year-old AleXa made her debut in K-pop with the release of her cinematic first single, Bomb. Born in Tulsa in the US state of Oklahoma as Alexaundra Christine Schneiderman, this K-pop star was introduced to South Korean pop during middle school, which inspired her to pursue a career in the industry. In 2018, she signed with ZB Label, a company headed by video production team Zanybros, and has gone from strength to strength since.
Here’s a Q&A the Post conducted with AleXa after the release of her mini-album “Decoherence” on October 21.
What do you hope audiences take away from your “Decoherence” EP and its single, Villain?
This is the final chapter of a trilogy that we’ve been working on since my debut. There’s an audiobook at the end that explains the entire AleXa story from beginning to end. So that should hopefully clear things up for people if they’re confused. It’s basically the blockbuster ending of the trilogy.

How do you feel about your career so far?
