HBO family business drama Succession on Monday won the Emmy for best drama series, wrapping up the star-studded gala in Hollywood to honour television’s finest.

The other nominees were Better Call Saul, Euphoria, Ozark, Severance, Squid Game, Stranger Things and Yellowjackets.
Ted Lasso scooped the Emmy for outstanding comedy series, the second win in the category for the Apple TV+ hit fronted by Jason Sudeikis.

The White Lotus, a satire on wealth and hypocrisy set in a luxury Hawaiian resort, on Monday scooped the Emmy for best limited series, over four contenders that looked at real-life scandals.

It defeated Dopesick, a look at the US opioid crisis; The Dropout, about the Theranos fraud; Pam and Tommy, about an infamous celebrity sex tape; and Inventing Anna, inspired by a Russian con artist who scammed upper-crust New York.
