Steve Carell’s next big gig will be at a major theatre on Broadway.
The Golden Globe-winning actor, known for the US version of hit comedy series The Office and Oscar-nominated films such as Little Miss Sunshine and Foxcatcher, will make his Broadway debut in a new production of Uncle Vanya.
Producers announced this week that Carell will take on the title role in the upcoming revival of the Anton Chekhov play, which begins performances on April 2 at the Lincoln Centre.
Pulitzer Prize finalist Heidi Schreck has been tapped to adapt the dark Russian drama about a wealthy couple who return to their family farm with plans to uproot the members who currently live there.

Lincoln Centre described the production as “a strikingly immediate new translation”.
