Singer Donny Osmond has revealed he will be sharing the stage with a version of himself from 1972 “thanks to some mind-blowing AI and CGI technology”.
The avatar, depicting a 14-year-old version of Osmond, will perform with him during his solo residency at Harrah’s Las Vegas.
Osmond, 67, appeared alongside the CGI figure in an Instagram video, and said: “I have a new co-star at my Las Vegas residency and we are going to be making history together.
“Can you imagine sharing the stage with your 14-year-old-self?

“Well, it’s happening, thanks to some mind-blowing AI and CGI technology, I’m going to be talking and singing with Donny Osmond, you know the one from 1972.”
A clip then showed the two together with the CGI version introducing himself as the “original Donny Osmond”.

When the older Osmond asked, “What does it feel like to sing with yourself 50 years in the future?” the younger version said: “Well, it’s kind of like singing with my grandpa.”
The singer found fame in the 1960s with his older brothers as The Osmonds, and then enjoyed a smash hit as a solo artist with the ballad “Puppy Love” in 1972.

This is not the first CGI concert to have taken place; in 2022 the highly anticipated Abba Voyage concert opened in London featuring younger “Abba-tars” of the group performing songs from their back catalogue alongside a live 10-piece band.
In 2023 rock band Kiss revealed they had been “immortalised and reborn as avatars to rock forever”.
During the encore of their last ever live show at New York’s Madison Square Garden, bandmates Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer left the stage to reveal digital avatars of themselves.
