It is that time of the week to switch off from work and switch on for some fun – and we have some ideas to make sure you get the best of what the city has to offer.
Contemporary art lovers can head to M+ this weekend to check out the works of six artists shortlisted for the Sigg Prize, a biennial award recognising important artistic practices in Greater China.
Yogis looking to (quite literally) elevate their practice can join an aerial yoga class at The Practice Studio.
If retail therapy is more your thing, head to Emis, the hip South Korean fashion brand loved by K-pop stars that has opened its first permanent store in the city.
Horror fans can get their fix by catching Exit 8, in cinemas now, while coffee lovers can burn some energy at a Sunday rave at Domain cafe.

1. M+: Sigg Prize 2025

The six finalists of the third Sigg Prize – Bi Rongrong, Ho Rui An, Hsu Chia-wei, Heidi Lau, Pan Daijing and Wong Ping – will unveil their shortlisted works at M+ this weekend.
The Sigg Prize is a major Asian contemporary art award with a prestigious panel of judges.
They include Maria Balshaw, the director of the Tate in the UK; Glenn Lowry, director of the Museum of Modern Art in New York; Mami Kataoka, director of the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo; Gong Yan, director of the Power Station of Art in Shanghai; the artist Xu Bing; M+’s own Suhanya Raffel; and the award’s namesake, Uli Sigg.
The winner will be announced in December.

2. Exit 8


Novelist turned filmmaker Genki Kawamura’s latest movie Exit 8 is a live-action adaptation of a video game in which players repeatedly run down a short underground passage to search for a way out.
The filmmaker appropriates images and ideas from Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining to make Exit 8 a psychological thriller exploring a man’s guilt and redemption.
For those who have not played cult favourite The Exit 8, which the film is based on, Kawamura outlines its rules at the start of the movie.
Reading those instructions, displayed on a wall, out loud, “The Lost Man” (Kazunari Ninomiya) learns that his goal is to look for anomalies in a white, brightly lit passageway.
With its fair share of jump scares and grotesque apparitions, Exit 8 ticks all the boxes as a horror film.
To his credit, Kawamura has fleshed out his skeletal source material: he shapes his characters’ supernatural experiences as a projection of their desires, anxieties and fears. Read our full review

3. No Coffee pop-up and rave at East Hong Kong

No Coffee, a brand from Fukuoka, Japan, has set up a three-month pop-up at Domain at Tai Koo’s East Hong Kong hotel serving unique coffee drinks such as its signature black latte made inky with bamboo charcoal.
Exclusive drinks will be introduced each month. For September, there is salted dried plum and cherry tomato coffee, and banana and pandan leaf coffee.
This Sunday, No Coffee’s founder, Shinsuke Sato, will host a one-off coffee rave from 12pm to 3pm where guests can enjoy live music from DJ Seth Gutierrez while sipping a brew, as well as vie for the chance to get an exclusive No Coffee jagua tattoo from TattooSays.
Tickets are HK$180 per person and include one speciality coffee drink.

4. Elevate Your Flow: Aerial Yoga Class

Whether you are new to aerial yoga or an experienced yogi looking to elevate your practice, you are welcome to join Meroko Kwong’s weekly class at The Practice Studio in Sheung Wan on Sundays at 11am.
The session blends traditional yoga postures with the support of an aerial hammock to help you stretch, strengthen and flow in ways you cannot on a yoga mat.
Kwong shows participants how to strengthen their upper body and core with hammock-supported poses, decompress their spine with gentle passive inversions, deepen their stretches with less strain on the joints, and build confidence through playful, gravity-defying movements.
At the end of the session, unwind with a relaxing savasana – the corpse pose – lying in the hammock.

5. Emis opens in Hong Kong

South Korean fashion brand Emis – a favourite with K-pop stars – has opened its first permanent store in Hong Kong. Located on Percival Street in Causeway Bay, the Hong Kong flagship store is packed with signature baseball caps, canvas tote bags and bowler bags.
Head to Emis – meaning “Every Moment is Special” – and check out its 2025 spring/summer and Hot Summer collections, featuring tank tops and swimsuits.
