With the end of the year in sight, Hollywood traditionally pivots away from crowd-pleasing blockbusters towards more highbrow, potentially award-winning fare.
But that does not mean that movie-goers in search of big-budget spectacles will be left wanting. On the contrary, cinemas are more desperate than ever to entice audiences off their sofas, away from the streaming platforms and back into cinemas, so big stars, thrilling entertainment and action-packed excitement are never too far away.
Below are our predictions for the 12 biggest releases of the coming season (opening dates are for Hong Kong), including no less than eight sequels, two remakes and a pair of adaptations of acclaimed novels.
There is a dearth of truly original content, perhaps, but with new offerings from the likes of Paul Thomas Anderson, Yorgos Lanthimos, James Cameron and Edgar Wright on the horizon, there should hopefully be something on the big screen to suit all tastes.
1. One Battle After Another
