Sino-British joint venture

The University of Nottingham in Britain has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (Sari) to jointly undertake groundbreaking research into carbon capture.

The work with Sari will focus on the development of solid absorbent technology for CO {-2} capture, in the fight against global warming. Experts from Nottingham and Shanghai will develop innovative solutions and apply for international funding to support their ideas.

Schoolteachers will share their experience in helping parents improve their children's literacy skills at a seminar on Friday at Chung Chi College of Chinese University under the Jockey Club Read and Write project.

The seminar will provide details about a parent education course to be launched next month on enhancing children's oral language and word identification skills, reading comprehension strategies and communication skills.

A fair presented by The Association of Boarding Schools (Tabs) and the Institute of International Education - Hong Kong will be held on Saturday from noon at the Conrad Hotel, Admiralty, and a one-hour seminar on boarding school education will follow at 3pm. Visitors may also obtain a copy of the Tabs official directory of 287 North American schools, meet with school representatives and learn about summer programmes.
