From Dinosaur Designs’ famously colourful “wabi-sabi” creations in resin to the beauty of a Paspaley pearl, there’s much to desire about jewellery from Australia and New Zealand.

Curious, individual, and with a firm sense of place, here are five antipodean jewellers whose creations deserve attention.

1. Natalie Marie

When Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex were on their royal tour of Australia and New Zealand in 2018, there was talk that Meghan Markle had visited Natalie Marie’s beautiful studio in beachside Avalon to buy some jewellery from her eponymous brand. While this was not true, the duchess did add to her collection of Natalie Marie while in Sydney.

She has worn the brand ever since her days acting in the US television series Suits, having first contacted Marie after discovering her on Instagram.

 “The duchess has been a wonderful support,” says Marie, who is a trained jeweller.
