Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, the richest man in the world, made his first public appearance with girlfriend Lauren Sanchez at an event in Mumbai, India, on January 16.

While recent years have seen the formerly nerdy tech billionaire emerge as a bona fide fashion enthusiast, he truly upped the ante with his wildly patterned evening jacket that was a far cry from the all-black tuxedos he normally wears at glamorous events such as the Met Gala or the Oscars.

The previously shy and low-key entrepreneur, whose divorce last year from wife MacKenzie after 25 years of marriage made headlines, has already shown to be an unwitting fashion influencer with his outfit choices.

Last summer, French swimwear brand Vilebrequin relaunched production of a five-year-old pair of swim trunks after Bezos wore the octopus-print trunks on holiday in Spain with Sanchez, and thousands searched for them online.
