Ten fashion statements by Lenny Kravitz as the chiselled singer comes out with memoir looking back at his early years in New York
- Black leather jackets, retro denim, skin-baring tops and skin-tight pants – American singer Kravitz has made fashion statements throughout his musical career
- With his striking good looks be can pull off almost any outfit – except perhaps the tasselled kaftan he was pictured with Britney Spears wearing to an MTV event

Music legend Lenny Kravitz has just published a tell-all book, Let Love Rule, which covers the first 25 years of his life, up to the release of his first album, also named Let Love Rule, in 1989. In the memoir, the 56-year-old writes about growing up a biracial child up in New York, his love for the Jackson Five, and his early days as a young musician finding his voice.
The man behind chart-topping hits such as American Woman, Fly Away and I Belong To You, Kravitz is as known for his songs as he is for his style sense and chiselled physique, which he recently showed off on the cover of magazine Men’s Health, looking even better than his younger self.
Never afraid to be daring with his wardrobe choices, Kravitz, who just this year starred in fashion and fragrance campaigns for French label Saint Laurent, has lost none of his style mojo. Here are some of the most remarkable outfits the singer has worn down the years.
Black leather jackets are one of Kravitz’s closet staples (below).

In a portrait shot in 2010, he pairs one with a slogan T-shirt printed with the words “Music Saved My Life”.
