Are you a “bright autumn” or a “dark winter”?
Personal colour analysis, which uses colour theory to identify the best colours a person should wear, is fast gaining traction in Asia. The results are based on the tone of a person’s skin and the four seasons.
It all started when K-pop star Hyeri, a member of group Girl’s Day, posted a YouTube video of herself getting a colour analysis consultation in 2020. Then, in April 2022, one featured on Korean game show Running Man. Blackpink member Jisoo also recently got her own analysis, which indicated that she is “dark winter”.

Colour analysis has now made its way to Hong Kong, according to Carrie Kwok Ka-lee, who is among a dozen consultants in the city that provide this service.
In August 2022, the fashion designer in her 30s switched to personal colour analysis full-time to cope with the rising demand. She is fully booked for the service for the next three months.

A consultation that lasts for an hour and a half can range from HK$500 (US$64) to HK$1,000, depending on the location of the studio and how much detail the consultant goes into during the session and in the final report.
