Fashions real Hongkongers wear: hatmaker Awon Golding pairs vintage with high street
Milliner believes personal style transcends any loyalty to particular brands
Hong Kong-born, London-based milliner Awon Golding shows off her exuberant, colourful style that mixes the old with the new.
This hat comes from my latest autumn winter collection called Floral Decay. It’s handmade in my London studio, and constructed of two-toned felt. The brass detailing helps to make the piece both wearable and luxurious at the same time.
Necklace and bracelet
Both pieces are from Topshop. I mix a lot of high-street pieces with vintage finds. I go to Brick Lane a lot when vintage shopping in London. And when I come to Hong Kong, I love to shop at Me & George.
I picked this number up from COS. The brand is usually a bit more minimalist than I’m used to, as I love mixing and matching colourful pieces. That said, I’m not too particular about designer labels and believe that personal style transcends any brands.
My personal style has a lot of personality and punchy colours, and this is reflected in this skirt from Me & George. I bought this skirt eight years ago. Surprisingly enough, it still fits me, which must mean I haven’t bloated.
