Zayn Malik to launch capsule fashion collection with Donatella Versace’s help
Former One Direction boy band idol to debut his Zayn X Versus collection for men and women in May
Zayn Malik has a new gig, joining his girlfriend Gigi Hadid in the fashion world with a capsule collection of his own under the tutelage of Donatella Versace.
The former One Direction idol, who has hits of his own as a solo artist, will debut his Zayn X Versus capsule collection for men and women in May. He’ll also appear in the Versus label’s next two ad campaigns, starting in February.
Versace says Malik’s fan base around the world will help generate buzz for the clothes. As for Malik, he says: “I’ve always wanted to design clothes. ... I know we’ll create something amazing.”
Malik and Hadid are fast becoming a global power couple. Malik is a social media magnet with more than 35 million followers on Twitter and Instagram combined. He is publishing an autobiography at age 23. Publisher Penguin Random House said in September that Zayn, described as the British singer’s “first autobiography”, would come out worldwide on November 1 and feature his thoughts, drawings and personal photographs.
Hadid, 21, has strutted on catwalks for the world’s top fashion labels. She is currently in Japan to promote her latest Tommy Hilfiger collaboration.
