Six stylish summer trainers to freshen up your look
There’s no better season to start experimenting with colour and style for your footwear
1. Berluti’s Fast Track Vitello Unico (HK$8,900)
Bringing together traditional leather savoir faire with modern sneaker culture, Berluti’s Fast Track sneakers are an unexpected clash of contradictions. The shoe’s upper is adorned with a perforated toecap, not unlike the brogues found in British footwear, whilst the sole features a sleek wedge and shape most commonly found in running shoes.
2. Ash’s Nexus white sneakers (HK$1,790)
Since its inception in 2000, founder and creative director Patrick Ithier has focused on a singular vision for Ash – to create fashion forward, contemporary footwear at reasonable price points. Their Nexus white sneakers is one example of this philosophy. Using the seminal white leather sneaker as its canvas, the shoes feature intricate floral embroidery on the sides. Gum soles and a punchy red star details at the heel have also been added for extra street style impact.
3. Giuseppe Zanotti’s olive runners (HK$6,250)
Over-the-top fashionistas will fall in love with these olive runners by footwear brand Giuseppe Zanotti. The sneaker’s opulent exterior features several design elements that blend seamlessly together, including a pyramid-studded toe cap, gold side zippers and striped suede textures. These sneakers boast serious style, so pair them with equally strong pieces, like a trusty motorcycle leather jacket and a good pair of raw denims.
4. Louis Vuitton’s Fastlane navy sneakers (HK$6,900)
Venerated French luxury brand Louis Vuitton has spent many seasons developing products that not only pay homage to its celebrated past, but also display its ability to modernise for the future. Made with neoprene, mesh, rubber and reflective details, these Fastlane sneakers are incredibly light and flexible, making them not only a stylish statement, but also easy to wear.
5. Rivieras’ Khalif Paris slip-ons (HK$820)
Co-founders Fabrizio Corveddu and Dan Amzallag created Rivieras in 2010, a footwear brand inspired by the 1950s deck shoe used in the French, Spanish and Italian rivieras. These slip-ons are both breathable and comfortable - well-suited for summer because of their mesh and canvas construction. The slip-ons, available at Kapok, also possess a supple sheepskin leather insole and a rubber outsole for extra cushioning.
