Paris’ prestigious Hotel de Crillon reopens for new era of service after first major renovations since 1909
The historic hotel on the Champs Elysees in Paris underwent a four-year facelift that saw the addition of a swimming pool, spa and ultra-luxurious suites
The Hotel de Crillon, one of the world’s oldest luxury hotels, which looks onto the square where Louis XVI lost his head, reopened on Wednesday after a multimillion-euro makeover lasting four years.
The venerable Paris institution, at the foot of the famed Champs Elysees, has boasted regulars of the likes of Ernest Hemingway and Charlie Chaplin.

A team of 147 artisans attended to the finest details of the neo-Classical building, restoring period frescoes, gold leaf trim and marble accoutrements in one of the world’s most prestigious hotels.

It was the first facelift for the hotel since the former residence of the Counts of Crillon opened it to paying guests in 1909. It also comes after the legendary Ritz reopened last year, and follows a four-year renovation.
