Four unmissable Hong Kong fashion events in early December – catch the pop-ups while you can
We’ve picked out the best in fashion and lifestyle happenings for the coming two weeks, from Silk Road shopping and hot pop-ups to crossover superhero-themed outfits and accessories
Industry heavyweights come to Hong Kong
If you love fashion then add Fashion Asia Hong Kong to your diary pronto. Returning after its successful launch last year, this year’s event, from December 5 to 12, will be overflowing with industry insight.
The highlight is a two-day forum titled “Fashion Challenges” (from December 6 to 7) that covers topics such as sustainability, the continual rise of China and the digital transformation of retail. The event involves 40 world-class international and local speakers, including Vivienne Tam, Jimmy Choo and British fashion blogger Susanna Lau (aka Style Bubble). Shopping the Silk Road
It’s almost Christmas and that means shopping, shopping and more shopping. To ease the buying burden, Tania Mohan, owner of groovy local boutique Tabla, has arranged a Silk Road-themed bazaar.
The one-day event on the lawn and in the sky lounge of Upper House in Admiralty takes place on December 11 from 11am to 8pm. Look out for kaftans made in the Philippines, hand-painted Balinese plates, Indian kids clothes and homewares, dazzling evening tops from South Korea, and Himalayan skincare products.
Super shopping powers by Dorian Ho
DC movie Justice League hit the big screens recently, catering to a host of superhero fans and seeing Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg join forces to fight for justice. In conjunction, retail merchandising company Brands United teamed up local designer Dorian Ho with Warner Bros to release a number of superhero-inspired outfits and accessories.
The Justice League x Dorian Ho fashion collection is available for sale at the Justice League x Dorian Ho pop-up store in Elements (2/F, Water Zone, next to shop 2065) until January 15 from 11am-9pm every day.
Pop in to a pop-up
Independent fashion, accessories and lifestyle brands all under one roof? Yes, please. Until December 17, a co-curated, multi-brand fashion and lifestyle pop-up shop (and fashion workshop) will be at 218 Hollywood Road, right in the heart of the area’s cultural hive.
Shop autumn-winter 2017 collections including high-fashion pieces and casual wear while accessorising from a hand-picked selection of fine and costume jewellery. Dress your home for the festive season with hand-picked homewares and a range of indie skincare and cosmetics brands. And did you say happy hours and a street party?
Among the brands are ACF Clothing, Cafuné, TwS, Unfold, Ika Butoni, Gamarrow, Adruzy, Doodle Felting, French Allure, Mary & Marie, Osea, Teresa’s Turkish Towels, Kben & Hol, What the Frock, Lhamour, Jadeite Atelier, Genevieve Collection, and Loiz Cashmere. The event will be held until December 17, from 11am to 6pm daily.
