Fashions real Hongkongers choose: Bastian Wong, founder and director of PR agency Flare Communications
For this communications specialist, it is important to have outfits that fit both formal occasions and networking time, with bold accessories to ‘power up’ the look. She’s a fan of Hermes, Chanel, and Gucci, and of jewellery from Tiffany
“Since I run an integrated communications agency, my role requires me to frequently meet people and attend both formal and networking occasions, so I tend to wear outfits that are functional and presentable.

“That tends to be quite limiting so I prefer outfits in neutral colours (black, grey or white) in luxurious materials for a sophisticated and timeless look.”
Wong wears a black top by Zeta, a velvet robe by Alex Eagle Studio she bought in London, silver silk pants by Claudie Pierlot, embroidered loafers by Gucci, an Apple Watch and bracelets by Tiffany.
“To contrast the monochrome, sometimes I like to add bold accessories to ‘power up’ the look which is why I love collecting accessories like pins and corsages.”
Styles Wong wears for work
“I love leather. It’s comfortable and timeless. A good leather outfit gives a modern, chic and sophisticated look, good for both work and play.”
Wong wears a black turtle-neck from Ralph Lauren, a grey leather jacket, scarf and bangle from Hermès and cashmere pants from her own brand, Movers & Cashmere.
Cashmere is another love of mine. It’s extremely comfortable, especially for the colder seasons. I can wear cashmere for work and travel, and there are more structured cashmere looks that can be worn as a style statement as well. I travel frequently so leather and cashmere are my two best friends.
Styles Wong wears for leisure
She wears a blue patterned sweater, white leather jacket and black leather shoes by Hermès, jeans by Frame Denim and bangles by Tiffany.
“I’m a very loyal customer. I only go to a few places in Hong Kong for clothes and accessories, which are Hermès, Chanel, Gucci, Theory and Vein. For shoes, I think Gucci and Hermès are the best, and of course Nike. I love Nike white sneakers, they go well with basically everything.”
“I prefer simplicity. Tailoring and most importantly, quality come first. Our agency promises to provide the best services and ideas, so this is also what I try to translate through my style as well.”
Wong’s essential accessories
“I love to collect small accessories and decorative objects. I usually find them when I travel, but many of those are gifts from friends and family who know my obsessions with these artistic objects. For the most part, I like all things leather and appreciate everything handmade and handcrafted.”
Her magnifying glass and silver bracelet are from Tiffany, her calendar from a flea market in London, the horse head, gold bangles and scarf by Hermès, and candle by Le Labo.
