The pick of the film star fashion on the Cannes Croisette

All eyes are on Cannes as the madding crowd and the film industry elite descend on the French Riviera city for its annual film festival

All eyes are on Cannes as the madding crowd and the film industry elite descend on the French Riviera city for its annual film festival. From Lupita Nyong'o in a vibrant green Gucci gown to Naomi Watts' stunning, dove grey feathered Elie Saab dress, Cannes has provided one of the year's most stylish and exciting red carpets so far.

Chinese superstar Fan Bingbing wowed in a pale pink embroidered gown from London-based couture house Ralph and Russo at the opening event, and again later in an ethereal tulle floral number - once more asserting her place amongst the world's most fashionable. Among the men, French actor and festival master of ceremonies Lambert Wilson did well with his jaunty tux and white bow tie.

One of Hollywood's biggest power couples, Sean Penn and Charlize Theron, looked chic in uncomplicated yet elegant outfits as they arrived for the Mad Max: Fury Road premiere. French actress Sophie Marceau proved the power of effortless elegance in her plunging, long white shirtdress.

America model Karlie Kloss scored big points in revealing, white Versace, while Ethiopian model Liya Kebede wowed in an unconventional and edgy off-the-shoulder textured two-piece - perhaps our favourite red-carpet-to-cocktail outfit so far at Cannes.
