Restaurant review: Cheeky Pasta, Wan Chai - takeaway treats
Pasta and salads to go are the cornerstone of this small new place near Wan Chai's Southorn Playground
Situated opposite the Southorn Playground in Wan Chai, Swatow Street has several small shops specialising in coffee, ramen, sandwiches and wine. One of the newest is Cheeky Pasta which sells pasta and salad.
Eight pasta dishes are offered, with the choice of spaghetti, penne or linguine.
Pesto primavera is a healthy and delicious offering with the pesto (basil, garlic, pine nuts and olive oil) coating the pasta and ingredients such as cabbage, zucchini and marmoreal mushrooms.
Pasta with cream pea wasabi sauce and cherry tomatoes (HK$58) was enjoyable. One of the speciality pastas – angel hair dragon beard (HK$58) – needs to be ordered in advance. For an extra HK$10, you can add chicken fillet or pork chop to any of the pasta dishes.
Salads are generous, and include cucumber with cherry tomatoes and sweet vinegar (HK$38) and mixed greens (HK$38). Other dishes include rich and cheesy jalapeno poppers (HK$35 for four) and sour and spicy deep-fried Buffalo wings (HK$46 for six).
Cheeky Pasta serves mostly takeaway, but if you want to eat in, there are four seats and a small counter.
