Alaskan king crab cooked several ways, spanner crab for Australia Day, and lobster cooked to order - get cracking on the shellfish this month

The Chinese restaurants at the Regal hotels throughout Hong Kong are featuring Alaskan king crab until the end of January. The dishes are available a la carte and as part of a five-course set menu (HK$398 plus 10 per cent) and include Alaskan king crab with soy milk and assorted vegetables in clay pot; baked Alaskan king crab with garlic and butter; and double-boiled Alaskan king crab soup with fish maw. Sake Bar Ginn in Central is having a Shinshu Nama sake tasting on January 30. For HK$500 plus 10 per cent, guests can eat from a buffet dinner while tasting more than 10 types of sake (including Otokoyama junmai genshu; Daishinshu Betsugakoi junmai ginjo special edition; and Kamoizumi junmai ginjo). The Mistral restaurant at the Grand Stanford InterContinental in Tsim Sha Tsui has game on the menu until the end of January. The selection includes tagliatelle with braised wild boar and porcini mushrooms; braised wild duck ravioli with Fontina fondue; pan-roasted pheasant breast with potato gratin; and braised wild boar shoulder with polenta and morel mushrooms.
