Restaurant review, Daimon Ramen, New Territories - super soup airfreighted from Japan
Japanese chain has opened three stores in Hong Kong, serving thick, chewy noodles in delicious broth, and spicy cold Taiwanese noodles. There are also snacks from as little as HK$12
Yet another ramen chain has set up shop in Hong Kong, and to stand out from the others - and ensure consistent quality - Daimon makes the soup base in Japan, freezes it then airfreights it to the outlets in Tuen Mun, Tseung Kwan O and Sha Tin.
In addition to the noodles, Daimon offers sets and snacks. The mapo tofu rice set with miso soup (HK$45), which has Japanese rice with silken tofu, pork and chilli sauce, is a good choice on a cold night.
For snacks, we like the Japanese soft boiled egg (HK$12 for two), which is served cold, and the pan-fried dumplings (HK$28 for five).
