Hong Kong menu specials: a feast of fungus – seasonal white Alba truffles and porcini mushrooms
Truffle dishes at Sabatini and L’altro, whisky wine and champagne at Upper Modern Bistro are among the culinary celebrations in Hong Kong
Sabatini at the Royal Garden hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui is featuring rare and expensive seasonal white truffles from Alba, Italy, until December 10. The dishes are available a la carte and on a five-course set menu (HK$1,980 plus 10 per cent). They include beef tenderloin carpaccio with rucola, asiago cheese and shaved white truffle; house-made tagliolini with truffle butter, parmesan cheese and shaved white cheese; and organic Italian scrambled eggs with toast and shaved white truffle. Upper Modern Bistro in Sheung Wan is celebrating its third anniversary with a series of events from October 17 to 23. On October 17, the restaurant will have a four course whisky and cheese pairing dinner (HK$688 plus 10 per cent), followed by a six-course Sarment Super Rhone wine dinner (HK$888 plus 10 per cent) on October 19. On October 20, a five-course dinner features l’Imperatrice champagne and Burgundy wines (HK$988 plus 10 per cent), and from October 21-23, the five-course anniversary tasting menu is HK$888 plus 10 per cent. Also serving white truffles from Alba is L’altro restaurant in Central. For the occasion, Philippe Leveille of the Michelin two-star Miramonti L’altro in Italy will be at the restaurant until October 14. His dishes, available a la carte and on a six-course tasting menu (HK$2,160 plus 10 per cent) include beef tartare Albese with Alba white truffles; veal chop cotoletta with mashed potatoes and Alba white truffles; and hazelnut soufflé with milk ice cream and Alba white truffles.
