Five fast facts about Taste of Hong Kong 2017, and some of the festival menu highlights
This year’s four-day food festival on the Central harbourfront features 16 top restaurants, which will be offering more than 50 dishes between them
Taste of Hong Kong begins on Thursday and food fans, umbrellas at the ready, will be descending on the Central harbourfront to sample the gourmet food on offer. Here are five fast facts about this year’s festival:
1. Some 17,000 visitors are expected during the four-day event.
2. The 16 restaurants taking part will offer more than 50 dishes, including six exclusive to Taste of Hong Kong.
3. Over 60 cooking and beverage demonstrations, workshops and masterclasses will be held.
4. More than 70,000 dishes will be consumed over four days.
5. Last year 2,000 servings of Tin Lung Heen’s barbecued Iberian pork were consumed, 300kg of M9 Australian wagyu was served by Duddell’s in its pan-fried wagyu wasabi soy sauce dish, and Yardbird prepared over 3,500 pieces of its sweetcorn tempura. All these dishes are available again this year.
Here are some other menu highlights:
Amber will serve freshly shucked Ebisu winter oyster with plum, beetroot granite and extra virgin olive oil.
Café Gray Deluxe will serve Brittany Diver scallop with XO emulsion and Amalfi lemon.
Chino will serve Uni truffle spicy lobster tostada
Kaum will serve baked marinated duck with Balinese spices and fresh cassava leaves.
Kei will server gnocchi with black truffle and Iberico ham.
Mercato will serve Black truffle lobster carbonara.
Rhoda will server slow cooked Hawke’s Bay lamb shoulder with spiced cauliflower and cumin.
Zuma will serve Hokkaido roasted rice aisu with matcha and rice puffs.
