Short of visiting the land of the rising sun itself, there are few places better than Hong Kong for Japanese food in terms of both food quality and the huge range of options available.

Often, though, you’ll have to pay for the pleasure – wolfing down wagyu or going loony over uni at the city’s more well-known establishments can set you back well over HK$1,000 before you can say oishii (delicious!).

But you don’t always have to pay big bucks to enjoy great Japanese food in Hong Kong. Here are three new places we’ve eaten at recently that really know how to deliver a special Japanese experience without eye-watering prices to match.
