Keeping track of the restaurants in the Cubus building in Causeway Bay can be difficult because they open and close so quickly – even the good ones.

Newcomer Castellana Restaurant, which specialises in the cuisine of Piedmont, northern Italy, occupies the 10th floor space that previously housed Town, and before that, Alba – both of which we reviewed and enjoyed.

We’re hoping that Castellana sticks around for a while.

The restaurant offers several set menus, ranging in price from HK$880 to HK$1,580, plus service charge. We were most tempted by the Piccolo Lago menu, with dishes from the two-Michelin-star restaurant of the same name on Lake Mergozzo, in Piedmont (its chef, Marco Sacco, is the menu consultant for Castellana).

We weren’t in the mood for seven courses, though, so asked the man we thought was the manager (but who turned out to be the owner) if we could have one course from the Piccolo Lago menu and the remaining from the à la carte selection.
