With the prolonged anti-government protests in Hong Kong making it difficult for people to dine out, especially at weekends, restaurants are offering some tempting deals.
These might be enough to get you out of your flat, or to make a detour on the way home from work, to enjoy some top-quality fare.
One venue even throws in a massage.
While you’re at it, why not have a glass of wine (or two)?


Olive
In Soho, the Mediterranean restaurant Olive has a three-course dinner tasting menu for HK$348 per person. There are choices for the mezze, mains and dessert, such as roasted beetroot salad; spiced and skewered lamb kifte; seven-vegetable tagine; pan-fried barramundi, or chargrilled rib-eye; and handmade baklava or ice cream for dessert.

Porterhouse 
In Lan Kwai Fong, Porterhouse has “Meet Me Tuesday”, where dinner customers can eat as much meat, salad, appetisers, sides and dessert within two hours as they like for HK$528. Customers can enjoy free flow drinks – juices, soft drinks, cocktails, wine, beer, prosecco and champagne – from as little as HK$128 per head. The meat cuts on offer include Australian wagyu beef skirt; Italian porchetta seasoned with chilli, fennel seeds, garlic and herbs; and milk-fed lamb marinated with Mediterranean herbs and smoked paprika.

Chuan Spa

Rech by Alain Ducasse 
For a taste of the sea, head to one-Michelin-star Rech by Alain Ducasse at the InterContinental Hong Kong hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui. From now until November 30, there is a five-course dinner menu featuring seafood from France’s southwest coast. Courses include monkfish cooked in a dry red wine sauce with leeks; a pot of pearl barley, ceps, shallots and parsley; Basquaise line-caught sea bass with vegetables; a cheese board, and for dessert, French toast with salted butter caramel ice cream. The dinner is HK$1,288 per person, and an additional HK$688 with wine pairings. This is a good price for top quality fine dining and you can enjoy the front-row view of Victoria Harbour.

Hugo’s
Famed fine-dining European restaurant Hugo’s at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui is turning 50 and is celebrating with a “Golden Classics” four-course set menu for HK$1,388 per person. Start off with the restaurant’s baked oyster Rockefeller or Caesar salad, made at the table, followed by pigeon consommé presented with a puff pastry dome. For mains diners can choose from pheasant souvarov, a whole pheasant marinated in cognac and foie gras and truffle sauce, prepared at the table, or tuck into whole Dover sole meunière with brown butter, lemon and white wine. Diners can choose two side dishes. Finish with signature crepes Suzette, flamed at the table, or bombe Alaska, another pyrotechnic display. A wine pairing is an additional HK$700.
