ReviewRestaurant review: LucAle in Sai Ying Pun – delicious Italian pasta dishes by former Angelini chef

  • Home-made ravioli with ricotta, mascarpone, fresh Italian tomatoes and basil was just one of the excellent dishes at this new Italian restaurant
  • It would be best to go as a group to enjoy the meat and cheese platters

Cuisine: Italian

Price: About HK$500 per person for a three-course meal without drinks or the service charge.

Ambience: Buzzing and happy. It would be best to come with a group so you can order one of the meat or cheese platters, as well as the delicious pastas.

Pros: Great, friendly service.

Cons: We tried one dessert to share – the Nutella broken pie with strawberries and lychees (HK$88) – which made us realise that we don’t like Nutella (it’s too sweet and doesn’t taste much of either hazelnuts or chocolate). The broken “crust” tasted like too-sweet biscuits from a pack and we strongly suspect that the lychee garnish, as well as the lychee ice cream, had been made from tinned fruit.
