Singapore gets 7 new Michelin-star restaurants in 2022 guide, while Cloudstreet and Thevar get upgraded to two stars

  • Burnt Ends, Euphoria and Hamamoto among the seven new restaurants on the 2022 list, which all received one star
  • Hawker stall Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle retains its one-Michelin-star ranking, while stalwarts Les Amis, Odette and Zen keep their three Michelin stars

A week after announcing the new Bib Gourmand entrants to the 2022 edition of the Michelin Guide Singapore, the storied tyre company revealed its latest list of Michelin-star establishments in the Lion City at a gala dinner on July 12.

There are now 52 Michelin-star restaurants in Singapore, up three from the 2021 edition, with seven new entries to the 2022 guide.

The seven new restaurants, which all received one Michelin star, are Burnt Ends, Euphoria, Hamamoto, La Dame de Pic, Marguerite, Nae:um and Rêve, representing a diverse range of restaurant genres from hearty barbecue to Korean minimalism.

Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle, a long-standing hawker stall beloved by many (including Singaporean restaurateur Yenn Wong of Hong Kong’s JIA Group), retained its one Michelin star for the sixth year in a row and remains the only street-food restaurant to boast a star on the Singapore list.

New to the two-Michelin-star list is the highly acclaimed Cloudstreet, up from one star in 2021, which also ranked 44th in the 2022 edition of Asia’s Best Restaurants.

Helmed by chef-owner Rishi Naleendra and his wife Manuela Toniolo, the restaurant represents Naleendra’s Sri Lankan heritage and is influenced by his time in Australia, with dishes such as a Sri Lankan curry of Western Australian marron.
