Between the excitement of the Paris Olympics and the fresh crop of restaurants that have opened recently, Hong Kong is buzzing with activity. For the weekend of August 3-4, we have curated a list of five food and drink experiences to add to the calendar.

1. Time To Gold

Social enterprise bakery Time to Gold has launched its full-service cafe in North Point on Hong Kong Island, serving a range of nostalgic Chinese sweet treats – think black sesame rolls, steamed white sugar cakes – as well as hot noodle and rice dishes.

It has come a long way from online store, then market stalls, in 2021 to a bricks-and-mortar shop in fast gentrifying Kam Ping Street today.

2. Please Don’t Tell (PDT)

With the recent announcement that American speakeasy bar Please Don’t Tell (PDT) at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental hotel will be closing permanently this October, it is a good reminder to dial back in for a solid drink or two and some of its signature hotdogs and tater tots.

On Sunday the bar will host another session of its PDT Sunday School, featuring spirits connoisseur and educator Eddie Nara, who will be showing drinkers the ins and outs of Wild Turkey bourbon whisky.
