For Hong Kong runners, January is filled with adrenaline and anticipation as the city prepares for the annual Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon, which will take place this Sunday.

That means this weekend will see several events catering to avid runners seeking the perfect warm-up, but there is also plenty to do for non-marathoners, from art exhibitions to food promotions.

Here are five things to do in Hong Kong this weekend.

1. She Runs Collective

On January 17, take part in a breezy “shakeout run” with She Runs Collective to loosen your legs the day before the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon.

The session, taking place at the Happy Valley Recreation Ground from 8.30am, will be a low-stakes, open-track training session designed to support runners tackling any distance in the marathon.

As a post-run treat, grab coffee with fellow runners at Fineprint’s Happy Valley location.

The shakeout session is free to join, with race bibs, temporary tattoos and shoe lace beads for the marathon available for HK$50.
