Valentine’s Day lands on a Saturday this year. That means, for many, no post-work rush, no watching the clock – just the entire night ahead to settle into a booth, share a tasting menu and linger over the last bites of dessert.

From Michelin-starred artistry over the harbour to shareable feasts in neighbourhood bistros, there is no shortage of places to do that in Hong Kong.

Here is a list of 10 restaurants to bring your special someone.

1. Akira Back

This Valentine’s Day, chef Akira Back presents a five-course dinner for one night only at his eponymous restaurant at The Henderson in Central. A reflection of Back’s heritage, the menu weaves together Japanese, Korean and American cuisines with seasonal ingredients.

Dishes include the mirugai carpaccio – featuring geoduck, uni and a caviar-infused emulsion – and a Japanese red mullet steamed in a bisque oil.

Alongside hwoe-muchim, a traditional Korean raw seafood dish, and a beetroot-cured kanpachi (greater amberjack) pizza, the main takes the spotlight with Wagyu, Kurobuta pork shoulder and jumbo tiger prawns on one plate.

Dessert is a deconstructed chocolate mille-feuille with sakura sencha jelly and Earl Grey ice cream.
