Just because the Chinese New Year festivities have wrapped up does not mean Hong Kong’s social calendar is taking a breather.
From free entry for one of the city’s most popular museums to an International Women’s Day wellness social and a coffee and music festival, the first full weekend of March is packed with a diverse mix of events.
Here are five things to do this weekend.
1. Asia Coffee Music Fest
This weekend, Hong Kong will host its first Asia Coffee Music Fest at Kai Tak Sports Park, blending coffee culture and live music in an outdoor fair.
The event gathers more than 30 champion coffee shops and cult roasters from across Asia, while “The Exclusive” zone will feature beans honoured at the 2025 Best of Panama competition – valued at around HK$2,000 (US$256) per batch.

There will also be competitions ranging from roasting techniques and tasting to latte art and signature coffee, all judged by world champions.
In the background of it all will be live performances across the three days, featuring Hong Kong artists such as Phil Lam, Lagchun, Michael C and Cath Wong.
Ticketing options range from a basic entry pass (HK$40) to an exclusive pass (HK$800) that includes VIP perks and merchandise.

2. Free Entry at M+

To kick off Hong Kong’s art month, the M+ museum will host a major open house on March 8.
All visitors are welcome free of charge from 10am to 8pm. They can visit an array of current shows on display, including “M+ Sigg Collection: Inner Worlds” and “Things, Spaces, Interactions”, as well as “Making It Matters”, “Shanshui: Echoes and Signals”, “Robert Rauschenberg and Asia” and “Chiharu Shiota: Infinite Memory”.
Beyond the main galleries, the free entry extends to immersive activities and spatial displays. Workshops and screenings will also be open to all.
Special exhibition “Zao Wou-Ki: Master Printmaker” will remain ticketed to manage crowd flow. Entry for the free day is exclusively through the Artist Square Entrance.

3. LIV Golf tour

The LIV Golf tour makes its highly anticipated return to Hong Kong from March 5 to 8, turning the Hong Kong Golf Club into a sporting hotspot for the weekend.
The 72-hole format features 57 top players competing in both individual and team competitions, including 2025 individual champion Jon Rahm, defending Hong Kong champion Sergio Garcia, and major winners Bryson DeChambeau, Cameron Smith and Wade Ormsby.
Besides golf, there will also be food stalls, game booths and even live performances, namely Grammy-nominated Australian DJ and producer Dom Dolla’s main stage on Saturday night.
More of a festival than a sports tournament, the event is open to all ages, complete with a dedicated children’s zone that has a Victoria Harbour-themed ball pit and family games.

International Women’s Day lands on a Sunday this year, offering the ideal excuse to self-care over the weekend with Modern Girls Wellness Club and Evolve Wellness.
Choose between two wellness activities: a yoga and sound bath session or a full-body mat Pilates class. Both options will include a journaling session, a complimentary cocktail and a skincare goody bag.
Afterwards, there will be a rooftop social with a view of the harbour, which includes a marketplace of activity stations ranging from tarot card readings and LED light therapy to instant nail art and head massages.

5. Rental Family


Looking for a heartfelt movie to watch this weekend? Look no further than Rental Family, a gentle, Tokyo-set dramedy from Japanese director Hikari (37 Seconds, Netflix’s Beef).
Oscar-winner Brendan Fraser delivers a beautifully sensitive performance as Phillip, a down-on-his-luck American actor living in Japan who takes an unusual gig working for a real-life “rental family” agency.
Hired to play everything from a mourner at a staged funeral to the long-absent father of an 11-year-old girl (Shannon Gorman), Phillip soon finds the lines between his paid performances and genuine reality beginning to blur.
Co-starring Takehiro Hira and Mari Yamamoto, the film uses this quirky premise to explore universal themes of isolation. Blending whimsical humour with profound emotional depth, Rental Family offers an inspiring meditation on human connection. Read our interview with Hikari.
