There might be a constant barrage of new smartphones and tablets, but new consoles only come along every few years.

There was the market launch of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2013, followed by the updated PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

Now, Sony and Microsoft have announced both successors will launch in November, and as prices, details and first demos emerge, the hype around this hardware is peaking.

On November 10, Microsoft goes first with the new Xbox Series – comprising the X and S models – followed two days later by Sony’s new PlayStation 5 on November 12 in select countries, then globally on November 19.
