It’s Instagram meets Nextdoor – new app Kepo will make sure that you never miss out on a deal again

  • Hong Kong’s newest social media app, Kepo, aims to connect you with the businesses and the people in your area by sharing content from around you
  • Like US app Nextdoor, it allows users to discover places nearby and, like Instagram, it allows you to post photos – though there are some privacy concerns

Have you ever stumbled across a coffee shop in your neighbourhood that you wish you had found sooner, or realised that you had just missed out on a great two-for-one deal at your favourite restaurant?

If you are in Hong Kong, there might be a fix for that.

Hong Kong’s newest social media app, Kepo, aims to connect you with the businesses and the people in your area. The app, founded by Rey Mui, made its debut on the App Store and Google Play in summer 2022.

In a format that can best be described as Instagram meets Nextdoor, the app allows users to post and find content based on their GPS location. The content includes “grams” and “moments” from small businesses, content creators – even your neighbour.

Mui came up with the idea for Kepo in 2019. It was originally envisioned as a localised version of Nextdoor, a US app that allows users to connect with neighbours, join groups and discover places nearby.
