Several K-pop idols are furthering their acting careers in a series of new Korean television series, including a couple of romantic comedies and a major erotic period drama.

1. Boyfriend on Demand

Blackpink’s Jisoo and singer-actor Seo In-guk (Doom at Your Service) have been set as the leads of the Netflix romantic comedy Boyfriend on Demand.

The story follows Seo Mi-rae (Jisoo), an overworked webtoon producer who, having grown jaded with real life, subscribes to the virtual dating service “Monthly Boyfriend” to find romance. The service matches her with a perfect virtual suitor each month.

Jisoo has been steadily making inroads in the K-drama industry, first among the supporting cast of The Arthdal Chronicles, then as a lead in Snowdrop. She is currently leading the zombie horror-comedy Newtopia alongside Park Jung-min.
Seo’s recent credits include Cafe Minamdang and Death’s Game. He is also set to appear in the coming supernatural action-drama Twelve.
