There is something to satisfy most K-drama fans in May, with a healthy mix of genres and stars crowding the springtime schedule. Here is our pick of the best.
1. Spring of Youth
Lead cast: Ha Yoo-joon, Park Ji-hu
Following April’s Crushology 101, May is set to give us another spring-set youth romance. Spring of Youth is a new SBS drama featuring Ha Yoo-joon (Namib) and Park Ji-hu (All of Us Are Dead).


Ha – a member of the coming K-pop outfit AxMxP – plays Sa-kye, a K-pop star who enrols at university after being kicked out of his band.
There, he falls for fellow music student Kim Bom (Park) and forms a new band on campus. (SBS, May 6)
2. Tastefully Yours
Lead cast: Kang Ha-neul, Go Min-si


Tastefully Yours follows in the footsteps of Brewing Love and The Potato Lab with its mix of romance, the countryside, and F&B (food and beverage) executives, featuring Kang Ha-neul (Squid Game season 2) and Go Min-si (Sweet Home).
Kang plays Han Beom-woo, a corporate heir and fine-dining entrepreneur who does not care about taste, while Go portrays Mo Yeon-joo, a rural chef who cares about nothing but taste.
The show is created by D.P. director Han Jun-hee, who was responsible for Weak Hero Class 1 and 2. (ENA/Netflix, May 12)
3. Second Shot at Love
Lead cast: Gong Myung, Choi Soo-young


Girls’ Generation member Choi Soo-young and Gong Myung (Way Back Love) team up for the rural romance Second Shot at Love.
Choi plays Han Geum-joo, a veteran small-town mechanic who is a little too fond of boozing, while Gong appears as her first love Seo Ui-joon, who suddenly moves back to their town from Seoul and is not at all keen on alcohol.
After being labelled an alcoholic, Geum-joo challenges herself to get on the wagon. (TvN, May 12)
4. Shark: The Storm
Lead cast: Kim Min-seok, Lee Hyun-wook


The webtoon-based fight drama Shark: The Beginning debuted as a streaming film on Tving in 2021 and now the story continues in Shark: The Storm.
Kim Min-seok is back as Cha Woo-suk, a student who wound up in prison after standing up to his bullies. Behind bars, he learned mixed martial arts.
This new series will follow his trials and tribulations after being released from prison.
Lee Hyun-wook (Mine) co-stars. (Tving, May 15)
5. Dear Hongrang
Lead cast: Lee Jae-wook, Jo Bo-ah, Uhm Ji-won


Lee Jae-wook (Alchemy of Souls) returns to period dramas as Hong-rang, the son of a family of wealthy merchants who disappeared as a child.
His stepsister Jae-yi (Jo Bo-ah, Tale of the Nine Tailed) has never stopped searching for him, while his merchant mother Min Yeon-ui (Uhm Ji-won, Little Women) has weathered hard times since he has been gone.
Hong-rang suddenly returns as a 20-year-old, but he does not remember his life before his disappearance, prompting many to wonder whether he is really who he claims he is. (Netflix, May 16)
6. Nine Puzzles
Lead cast: Kim Da-mi, Son Suk-ku


Kim Da-mi (Our Beloved Summer) and Son Suk-ku (My Liberation Notes) team up for the hotly anticipated thriller Nine Puzzles from Narco-Saints director Yoon Jong-bin.
Kim is criminal profiler Yi-na, who witnessed the murder of her police captain uncle 10 years earlier. Son plays Han-saem, a detective who suspected Yi-na was the killer.
While he is still not convinced she was not responsible, new events force them to get to the bottom of things together.
The series is written by Navillera scribe Lee Eun-mi. (Disney+, May 21)
7. Our Unwritten Seoul
Lead cast: Park Bo-young, Park Jin-young


Hot on the heels of Melo Movie, Park Bo-young will be back on screens in May playing twin sisters Yoo Mi-ji and Mi-rae, who are different in every way, save for their appearance.
Mi-ji, formerly a prominent athlete, now lives a carefree life, while the studious Mi-rae is a perfectionist. One day, the two decide to swap their lives.
Got7’s Park Jin-young (The Devil Judge) also appears as Lee Ho-su, a lawyer whose life becomes entwined with theirs. (TvN, May 24)
8. Oh My Ghost Clients
Lead cast: Jung Kyung-ho, Seol In-ah, Cha Hak-yeon


Hospital Playlist actor Jung Kyung-ho stars as No Mu-jin, a labour lawyer who develops the ability to see ghosts following a near-death experience.
Suddenly his clients are all ghosts bringing with them their unique labour woes.
Oh My Ghost Clients is the drama debut of celebrated film director Yim Soon-rye, known for Waikiki Brothers, Forever the Moment and Little Forest. (MBC, May 30)
9. Good Boy
Lead cast: Park Bo-gum, Kim So-hyun


When Life Gives You Tangerines actor Park Bo-gum makes a quick return to screens alongside Kim So-hyun (Love Alarm) in Good Boy.
Both actors play former Olympic medallists who are recruited into a new police unit, where they use their sporting skills to tackle injustice.
Good Boy is the latest series from Beyond Evil and The Good Bad Mother director Shim Na-yeon. The show is penned by Lee Dae-il (Chief of Staff). (JTBC, May 31)
