A whopping 13 K-dramas will be debuting on screens this September, all but guaranteeing that fans will have to scramble to make time for their new favourite shows as we head into the autumn.
Read on to find out what to catch over the next month.
1. Queen Mantis
Lead cast: Go Hyun-jung, Jang Dong-yoon


In this remake of the French series La Mante, Go Hyun-jung (Mask Girl) plays Jung Yi-shin, a serial killer known as the Mantis who murdered five men two decades ago.
Jang Dong-yoon (Daily Dose of Sunshine) plays her son Cha Soo-yeol, who despises her and has become a policeman.
When a new crime surfaces that appears to be a copycat killer, Soo-yeol reluctantly enlists his mother’s help. (SBS, September 5)
2. My Youth


Lead cast: Song Joong-ki, Chun Woo-hee
In the romantic drama My Youth, Song Joong-ki (Reborn Rich) plays former child actor Sun Woo-hae, who overcame a difficult childhood and now lives a simpler life, working as a writer and a florist.
Chun Woo-hee (The Atypical Family) plays his first love Sung Je-yeon, who suddenly pops back into his life after 10 years. (JTBC/Viu, September 5)
3. Confidence Queen
Lead cast: Park Min-young, Park Hee-soon, Joo Jong-hyuk


Marry My Husband actress Park Min-young headlines the drama Confidence Queen as genius scam artist Yoon Yi-rang.
She leads a crew of swindlers comprising the veteran con man James (Park Hee-soon, Dr Brain) and Myung Gu-ho (Joo Jong-hyuk, Extraordinary Attorney Woo).
With their different tales and talents, this trio teams up to punish the bad guys. (TV Chosun/Prime Video, September 6)
4. Tempest
Lead cast: Jun Ji-hyun, Gang Dong-won, John Cho


Disney+’s biggest K-drama offering of the year, Tempest is a grand spy action-drama teaming up Jun Ji-hyun (My Love from the Star), Gang Dong-won (Uprising) and Hollywood actor John Cho (Cowboy Bebop).
Jun plays Mun-ju, a former ambassador who discovers a secret behind a political assassination and teams up with elite mercenary San-ho (Gang) to find the truth.
The series is the latest team-up of writer Chung Seo-kyung and director Kim Hee-won, following Little Women. (Disney+, September 10)
5. You and Everything Else
Lead cast: Kim Go-eun, Park Ji-hyun


Kim Go-eun (Exhuma) heads back to the small screen as Ryu Eun-joong in the series You and Everything Else.
Eun-joong is a TV writer with a long and complicated relationship with film producer Cheon Sang-yeon (Park Ji-hyun, Flex X Cop), her bitter rival who was once her best friend.
Now in their forties, the former friends once again come face to face. (Netflix, September 12)
6. A Hundred Memories
Lead cast: Kim Da-mi, Shin Ye-eun


On the heels of the acclaimed Nine Puzzles, Kim Da-mi returns for this 1980s-set drama as Go Young-rye, who, despite her motion sickness, works as an attendant on a bus to provide for her family.
Shin Ye-eun (Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born) plays her friend and fellow attendant Seo Jong-hee. That friendship is threatened when the man who was both of their first loves pops up in their lives again. (JTBC, September 13)
7. Shin’s Project
Lead cast: Han Suk-kyu, Bae Hyun-sung, Lee Re


Veteran actor Han Suk-kyu (Doubt) plays the eponymous Mr Shin, an outgoing man who used to be a top negotiator and now runs a neighbourhood chicken restaurant.
Whenever disputes arise up and down his street, he tends to step in as the mediator, solving problems quickly and with a cool head, while also standing up against injustice. (tvN, September 15)
8. To the Moon
Lead cast: Lee Sun-bin, Ra Mi-ran, Jo A-ram, Kim Young-dae


Three colleagues at the Marone Confectionery company decide to dabble in digital currency in this lively crypto comedy.
Lee Sun-bin (The Potato Lab) is the hard-working Jung Da-hae, Ra Mi-ran (The Good Bad Mother) is the money-obsessed Kang Eun-sang, and Jo A-ram (The Auditors) is the partying accountant Kim Ji-song. (MBC, September 19)
9. Walking on Thin Ice
Lead cast: Lee Young-ae, Kim Young-kwang


In this thriller, Lee Young-ae (Maestra: Strings of Truth) plays housewife Eun-soo.
Desperate to pay for her terminally ill husband’s medical bills, she finds herself with a bag of drugs and in cahoots with the mysterious teacher Yi-kyeong (Kim Young-kwang, Trigger). (KBS2, September 20)
10. No Mercy
Lead cast: Lee Joo-young, Ji Seung-hyun, Koo Jun-hoe

Lee Joo-young (Itaewon Class) leads the cast of the miniseries No Mercy.
She plays unknown actress Han So-min, who winds up infiltrating a deepfake-technology-powered phishing organisation. She seeks to take it down from the inside as revenge for the death of her parents. (Wavve, September 24)
11. The First Lady
Lead cast: Eugene, Ji Hyun-woo


The Penthouse star Eugene returns for some prime-time melodrama as Cha Soo-yeon, a woman who has dreamed of becoming the First Lady. Then, 67 days before her husband is inaugurated as South Korea’s president, he hands her divorce papers.
Political and family secrets start spilling out in the days before his inauguration. (MBN, September 24)
12. The Murky Stream
Lead cast: Rowoon, Shin Ye-eun, Park Seo-ham


Slated to premiere at the Busan International Film Festival, period action-drama The Murky Stream features Rowoon (She Would Never Know) showing a different side of himself as Jang Si-yool, a secretive man trying to hide his past.
Shin Ye-eun, in her second show of the month, is the wily and principled merchant Choi Eun. Park Seo-ham of the boy group KNK plays Jung Cheon, a government official seeking to purge corruption in a lawless Joseon. (Disney+, September 26)
13. Ms Incognito
Lead cast: Jeon Yeo-been, Jin Young


Jeon Yeo-been, who was recently seen in Our Movie, is back to play Kim Young-ran, a bodyguard for a corporation from a poor family background.
She gets a chance to change her lot in life when she is asked to enter into a contract marriage with the ailing chairman of the Gasung Group. (ENA, September 29)
