As temperatures rise and cherry blossom petals drift across Seoul’s bustling spring streets, the city’s drama industry is whirring with activity.
Major stars are circling a collection of enticing new shows, including an Australia-set mystery, a Japanese drama remake and a period hitwoman series.

Caution, Hazardous Wife
Lee Hye-ri and Na In-woo have been approached to take on the leading roles in Caution, Hazardous Wife, a remake of the 2017 Japanese series of the same name.
The show will follow a couple hiding their real identities. Lee is looking at the part of Jin Ja-young, a spy in hiding who takes it upon herself to deal with local troublemakers before the police get involved, while Na has been offered the role of her husband, a black ops agent from the National Intelligence Service.

Last seen in Friendly Rivalry, Lee is next slated to appear in the film-industry-set drama Dream to You alongside Hwang In-youp.
Na appeared in Motel California and took on a supporting role in Twelve last year, in addition to Love Is for the Dogs, his first Japanese series.
News of this Korean adaptation initially surfaced in 2023, when Chae Soo-bin was attached. Beyond the casting switch, the series has reportedly undergone extensive creative changes.
Green Light
Choi Hyun-wook (Twenty-Five Twenty-One) and Jung Chae-yeon (Beyond the Bar) are considering offers to headline the show Green Light.

Set on a university campus in the late 1990s, Green Light centres on a promising young baseball pitcher who ventures to law school in the hope of meeting his first love, where he is battling it out as a first-year student.
Choi is eyeing the role of Han Tae-young, whose passion and confidence on the mound vanish the moment he is confronted with someone who gets his heart racing.
Jung is circling the part of Song Ji-woo, a second-year law student whose sturdy exterior masks the pain she carries from her past. After meeting Tae-young, she is forced to once again confront those long-buried feelings.

Choi will next star in Netflix’s Notes from the Last Row, another university-set show. Meanwhile, Jung may also be gearing up to join a rumoured second season of Beyond the Bar.
Director Kim Moon-gyo (Trolley, Connection) will reportedly be at the helm of the series.
The Obedient Killer
Following her strong turns in Nine Puzzles, A Hundred Memories and the global Netflix hit The Great Flood last year, Kim Da-mi may be returning to screens as a hitwoman in the coming series The Obedient Killer.

Set around the 1970s and 80s, the series concerns Go Dal-boon, a simple, quiet and obedient woman whose sole goal in life was to be a devoted wife and mother. Those priorities change after she gets a divorce and is forced to enter the workforce, finding a position at a mysterious company in the hopes of getting her daughter back.
There, she becomes aware of an unexpected talent: a knack for eliminating people without leaving the slightest trace.
The creator behind the series is Kang Eun-kyung, known for Dr. Romantic and Gyeongseong Creature, while the scripts will be penned by Joo Hwa-mi (The Atypical Family). At the helm is Our Movie director Lee Jung-heum.
Outback
Ryu Jun-yeol and Hong Kyung are being courted to appear in the forthcoming Netflix original series Outback, based on the popular webtoon G’day. Representatives for both actors have confirmed the casting offers, adding that nothing has been decided yet.

The story follows Si-on, a young man who travels all the way to Australia in search of his missing older sister, only to meet a mysterious man named Hans.
The series is being produced by Shortcake, the production company responsible for popular shows such as D.P. and Weak Hero.
Ryu last starred in Yeon Sang-ho’s Netflix thriller Revelations and will reunite with the streamer for the coming mystery series Mousetrap alongside Sul Kyung-gu.
Rising star Hong is coming off a strong year, which saw him share the limelight with seasoned actors in the big-budget Netflix political satire Good News – which also featured Sul Kyung-gu – and the disaster series Concrete Market, for which a theatrical version was also released.
