Suran, Korean singer-songwriter, on Blanket, her new pandemic anthem, breaking out and starting afresh at 35
- Suran shares lyrics with rapper Wonstein on Blanket, her latest collaboration after cutting tracks with BTS’ Suga, Mamamoo’s Hwasa, Zico, Dean, Crush and Heize
- The singer formed her own company, S-tasy, this year after parting ways with her former label, and says it feels like a new beginning

“Out of my mind.” That’s how South Korean singer-songwriter Suran describes her experience ahead of every new release, just hours before Blanket arrived on Wednesday.
“I’m always out of my mind, but we shot the video really late so ... still figuring it out.”
Her second song to be released since she launched her indie label S-Tasy earlier this year, Blanket follows February’s Sunny. The new song is a summery take with a rhythmic, island beat driving Suran’s and melodic rapper Wonstein’s lyrics about staying home safe and secure yet wanting to go out.
As she was speaking with the Post, the music video for the song was still being edited, even though a teaser video had already dropped. Despite her state of mind, and the anticipation of a new release, the singer was reflective and relaxed, and eager to share with the world everything she has to offer.

Blanket was born out of Suran’s thoughts during South Korea’s coronavirus lockdown last year, and features an upbeat twist on her more typical mellifluous style.
