NCT in 2021: will this year be the best yet for the K-pop boy band brand?
- The 23-member K-pop act, split across various teams such as NCT U, NCT Dream, NCT 127, and WayV, are expected to capitalise on their momentum from 2020
- A new era of NCT groups potentially aimed at Southeast Asia, and a drive for TikTok fame, would not be surprising

NCT saw varied results last year, with some singles going viral and others barely making a mark beyond their dedicated fan base. But as 2021 arrives and provides NCT with a new opportunity to take on the world, the outfit are expected to capitalise on their momentum from 2020, even possibly releasing new NCT teams.
Currently a 23-member act split across various teams such as NCT U, NCT Dream, NCT 127 and WayV, NCT remained busy throughout 2020.
NCT 127, the internationally oriented team, put out their outstanding Neo Zone album; WayV, the China-focused team, released their first LP Awaken the World; and NCT Dream, the youthful unit, dropped Reload and a concert album, and confirmed its line-up with its original seven members after years of confusion over its way forwards.

Combined, NCT – which stands for Neo Culture Technology and represents K-pop company SM Entertainment’s philosophy of creating forward-thinking pop acts – also dropped two halves of their Resonance album project, with five singles from that release alone.
