BTS’ performance of their hit song Butter at Sunday’s 64th Grammy Awards brightened up the awards show, but the South Korean group not taking home an award put a damper on the night for their fans and supporters across the world.
Nominated for best pop duo/group performance, Butter lost out to Doja Cat and Sza’s Kiss Me More.
It was the second year in a row that BTS had been nominated for a Grammy in the category – the superstar boy band’s 2020 hit Dynamite was up for the award in 2021.

Kiss Me More not only beat Butter to the award, but also Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga’s I Get a Kick Out of You, Justin Bieber and Benny Blanco’s Lonely and Coldplay’s Higher Power.

BTS fans around the world, known collectively as Army, were quick to voice their disappointment at their idols’ failure to take home what would have been their first Grammy.

Still, fans took comfort in BTS’ performance, as well as viral moments from the awards show from Lady Gaga and Filipino-American rising star Olivia Rodrigo. A quote from BTS member RM also made the rounds.
