As 2021 gets under way, the K-drama production pipelines are steadily filling up.

Several major projects have been announced in the past few weeks, including reunions for the stars of Sweet Home and the star and writer of Descendants of the Sun, a Pixar-esque webtoon adaptation and a starry remake of a hit British legal drama.

Black Sun

Hot Stove League star Min Namkoong has signed on to appear in this new MBC drama. Min will play Han Ji-hyuk, a top agent of South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) who is admired by all until he throws the organisation into a crisis. A year later, he returns to the NIS to track down the traitor who set him up.

Black Sun, which will comprise 12 episodes, will be directed by Kim Sung-yong, who previously made The Flower in Prison, and is expected to air in the second half of this year.

Disqualification from Being Human

Apink star Son Na-eun has joined the previously announced cast of Ryu Jun-yeol (Reply 1988) and Jeon Do-yeon (The Good Wife) in this highly anticipated new series.
