March was a rocky month for K-dramas, with several shows embroiled in controversy. One series ( River Where the Moon Rises ) underwent extensive reshoots , while another ( Joseon Exorcist ) was pulled off air entirely . The industry will be hoping for smoother waters in April, and viewers have plenty to get excited about, with a number of exciting new series launching. They include a pair of supernatural stories, two tense thrillers, and a legal drama. Read on to find out what new shows are hitting screens next month. 1. Taxi Driver Based on the webtoon The Deluxe Taxi written by Carlos and illustrator Lee Jae-jin, this new K-drama from SBS stars Lee Je-hoon as Kim Do-ki, a naval academy graduate who becomes an underwater demolitions expert. His life goes off the rails following his mother’s death at the hands of a serial killer. Now he is employed by the Rainbow Taxi Company, which, unlike your average cab company, offers a special service for customers seeking to exact revenge. Co-starring in the series are Esom and Kim Eui-sung, while handling the director’s reins is Park Joon-woo, known for the show Doctor Detective . (April 9, SBS) 2. Sell Your Haunted House KBS2 will air this supernatural drama, which tells the story of Hong Ji-a, an exorcist who runs a real estate agency. Not your usual broker, she lists locations that she has personally exorcised and rendered safe for sale. However, Ji-a has one trauma she has not been able to solve – the mysterious death of her mother 20 years earlier. Helping her get to the bottom of the case is Oh In-beom, a swindler who lives off fast cash from cons that often include made-up ghosts. Playing Ji-a is Jang Na-ra, who was last seen in the tvN show Oh My Baby , while Jung Yong-hwa, of the K-pop outfit CNBlue, plays In-beom. (April 14, KBS2) 3. Law School Three years after The Miracle We Met , Kim Myung-min returns to the small screen for the legal drama Law School on JTBC. Kim plays former prosecutor Yang Jong-hoon, now a professor at a prestigious law school. Disinclined to soften his speech, Jong-hoon has not endeared himself to the student body, but his only goal is to mould and recruit nimble minds to the legal profession. The only other professor at the school he gets on with is Kim Eun-sook, played by Parasite actress Lee Jung-eun. Among the first-year students under his care are Kang So (Ryu Hye-young), who comes from an underprivileged background, and the handsome hotshot Han Joon-hwi (Kim Bum), who harbours a secret. (April 14, JTBC) 4. Undercover The second series from JTBC in April, Undercover is a Korean remake of the British series of the same name. Ji Jin-hee stars as Han Jung-hyun, an agent who was picked up by the National Intelligence Service (NIS) while he was studying at the police academy. He begins to work on a top secret case undercover, during which he meets Choi Yeon-soo (Kim Hyun-joo). He falls in love with her and they eventually get married. Yeon-soo is a civil rights lawyer but when she finds herself nominated for a top posting, her husband’s true identity slowly bubbles to the surface, causing chaos for both of them. Ji was last seen in Designated Survivor: 60 Days , while Kim recently appeared in Watcher . Ji and Kim previously co-starred in the 2015 drama Identical Affairs . (April 23, JTBC) 5. Dark Hole OCN will present the horror-tinged investigation drama Dark Hole , in which Kim Ok-bin appears as Lee Hwa-sun, a detective in Seoul who receives a call from the person who murdered her husband, telling her to go to Muji City. Upon her arrival she discovers that the residents have been gripped by a mysterious smoke that has appeared from a sinkhole, which turns the people who breathe it in into monsters. Also in Muji is former detective Yoo Tae-han (Lee Joon-hyuk), who works as a driver after a case that went awry. Still possessing a strong sense of justice, he joins Hwa-sun when his town falls into peril. Kim is known to global viewers from films such as Thirst and The Villainess , while Lee starred in the hit show Stranger . (April 24, OCN)
