Kim Tae-ri and Kim Soo-hyun are among the big names mulling new projects in our latest round-up of Korean drama casting news.

1. Jeong-nyeon

Twenty-Five Twenty-One star Kim Tae-ri is reportedly in talks to appear in the drama Jeong-nyeon, based on the popular webtoon of the same name penned by Namon. Her agency has confirmed that the offer has been made, but nothing has been decided as of yet.
Set in the 1950s, the series focuses on Yoon Jeong-nyeon, a young girl from the southern South Korean harbour town Mokpo and who is born with a natural singing voice. She joins a traditional theatre company in search of fame and fortune. According to Namon, Jeong-nyeon references the character Kim Tae-ri played in The Handmaiden, her breakout role.

The show is expected to begin shooting in the second half of 2023. This would probably complete Kim’s shooting schedule for 2023, as she is also about to embark on filming the series Demon, a new mystery-thriller from Kingdom writer Kim Eun-hee.

2. I Have Waited a Long Time for You

Na In-woo and Kim Ji-eun have been set as the leads of the coming drama I Have Waited a Long Time for You, to be broadcast on cable channel ENA. Na will play Oh Jin-sang, a detective in the countryside who strives to avenge his younger brother.
