Family drama, mystery and a touch of comedy are folded into The Kidnapping Day, a new K-drama series that calls to mind Korean big-screen thrillers of yesteryear.

Yoon Kye-sang (Kiss Sixth Sense) leads the cast of this adaptation of Jung Hae-yeon’s novel of the same name as a desperate father in over his head when he kidnaps a young girl; Park Sung-hoon (The Glory) plays the cop trying to track him down.

Kidnap is a loaded word and, while it technically applies here, you may be surprised at how quickly the power dynamic between hapless criminal and strong-willed victim shifts.
