Queen of Tears star Kim Soo-hyun offered Knock Off role; new season for hit show Signal – Korean drama casting latest

One of the most popular Korean dramas of all time is finally returning for a second season, while a rising actor eyes his first role after being discharged from the military, and the star of a hit show currently airing considers a quick return to the screen.

1. Knock Off

Currently heating up the screen alongside Kim Ji-won in Queen of Tears, Kim Soo-hyun has been offered the lead role in the coming Disney+ series Knock Off. Kim’s representatives have indicated that he is positively reviewing the offer but that nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

Knock Off will be directed by Park Hyun-suk, whose many directing credits include Uncontrollably Fond and Stranger 2. The series will be produced by Arc Media, the company behind the recent Disney+ series Big Bet. Plot details have yet to be revealed but the series is being described as a black comedy.

Known for hit series such as My Love from the Star and It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, Kim is once again achieving high ratings with Queen of Tears, which soared to 13 per cent last weekend, making it the 22nd most successful cable drama of all time after only four episodes.

2. Potato Research Institute

Kang Tae-oh (Extraordinary Attorney Woo) is currently in talks to lead the tvN romantic comedy Potato Research Institute, while Lee Sun-bin of Work Later, Drink Now has been offered the co-starring role.
