The Disney+ historical drama Uncle Samsik had a slow start, but after moving through a more involving midsection it ended in grand fashion this week.
The ambitious show concluded with a three-episode finale featuring gripping set pieces and a complex conclusion to its central relationship, between the wily political fixer Uncle Samsik (Song Kang-ho) and the idealistic economist Kim San (Byun Yo-han).

However, the complexity of Uncle Samsik’s narrative was a double-edged sword. On the one hand it, along with writer-director Shin Yeon-shick’s lyrical dialogue and the show’s high production values, made the story rich and meaningful.
