Hot on the heels of Song Kang-ho, who recently made his long-awaited K-drama debut in Disney+’s Uncle Samsik, Sul Kyung-gu (Oasis) is the latest veteran actor making his small-screen debut – which he does in The Whirlwind, opposite The World of the Married star Kim Hee-ae.

Sul’s first TV series, like Song’s, involves a complex political story, although this one takes place in the present, dealing with a battle between the fictional South Korean Prime Minister Park Dong-ho (Sul) and Deputy Prime Minister Jung Soo-jin (Kim).

As the show begins, the prime minister is only a few hours away from being brought in by the prosecutor’s office and charged with corruption.

In a desperate attempt to escape these trumped-up charges and expose the real people responsible, Dong-ho visits the corrupt President Jang Il-jun (Kim Hong-pa, Big Bet) in his office in the Blue House, where he attempts to assassinate the head of government by poisoning him.
